The 'hood is getting new streets this week. Something we have urged the ABQ public works to consider. The streets north of Comanche except Camino will have the old tar-striped surface abladed about an inch and a new asphalt surface installed. Values will surely rise and the neighbors will begin to talk to neighbors of block parties, little children, skateboards, and speed humps. Life is good.

Apparently people are using the doggie bags in the park and then throwing the bags into the arroyos. This was sent to members of the GHSCGNA board. We will let you know when we have the Stormwater Quality Team scheduled to attend a GHSCGNA meeting.

There was a report of suspicious activity on the 3000 block of Matador from Saturday, April 25 through Monday, April 27. It appears people may have been casing houses in that area. There was a parked car late at night and early the next morning with someone just sitting in it. The person claimed they were looking for someone. There has also been a report of young people fooling around with mailboxes.

This is in addition to some home break-ins and burglary in the 3000 block of Matador (see ...

Trash Bins Left Out...

It's disapointing to see those few neighbors who find it difficult to take their empty trash bins off the street days after they've been emptied. I'm not sure if there is a law about having them out days after being emptied, but it certainly isn't nice to look at. In some instances I've seen them left out at least 5 days after they've been emptied.

Anyone else find it unsightly and irresponsible for your neighbors to do that?

A crime situation has developed in the 3000 block of Matador Drive as reported by one of our neighbors. Recently, it involved a serious break-in with multiple arrests. Apparently 3 or 4 burglars (young people) broke into a house on Monday, April 27 in the afternoon. They somewhat trashed the house and attempted to remove the stolen belongings out the back of the house. They had a pickup truck parked in the open space between northbound Tramway and the hiking / biking trail on Tramway waiting ...

Over the past several months there has been suspicious activity at the north end of the Linear Park where the walking path intersects Calle Cereza (just north of the north playground and south of the PNM substation.

In the first instance late last summer/early fall, there were a couple of vehicles that were pulling up and parking along the street with additional cars pulling up, occupants getting out and into the parked car for a few minutes, then leaving. The vehicles were there several days ...

Written by Paul Grosvenor, Fun Run organizer and former GHSCGNA President

Ten years ago, when I moved to this neighborhood, there was a sign in the easement behind my house stating “Future Park Site.” After a little research, I found out that it had been a “future” park site for 35 years. I went to the Glenwood Hills South/Casa Grande Neighborhood Association (“GHSCGNA”) meeting a few months later after receiving a flyer stuck on my door. The new park was the big issue, along ...
